Alaska Fall Color Photography & Photo Tours
We arrived home recently from my annual Fall Color shoot. We hit just past peak fall colors, but the weather was spectacular. As were my fellow travelers. This was Jena’s first trip “up north” to Interior Alaska. Also joining us was Scott Slone of Alaska HDTV. Jena and I had planned on spending the full 8 days on the road, but the colors shifted so quickly that we headed home early. We will do local day trips whenever possible though, to find nearby “pockets” of color that have yet to mature. Mighty Moose
Moose scare me more than bear do. I have never been charged by a bear, they typically want nothing to do with humans. Even kneeling less than 2 feet from an 800 pound female brown bear on the Katmai coast, I didn’t feel threatened. But I won’t get within 20 yards of a moose, if I can avoid it. The difference between a bear and moose charge – in my experience? Easy. If a bear charges you, stand your ground. Do NOT run. Bear like to bully and make things move. People, other bear… doesn’t matter. If a moose charges you? Get the HECK out of there. Like… yesterday. I’ll be the first to admit, moose are some of the oddest looking creatures. Part horse, part… well, something else. Perhaps something with a goiter problem?...
