Just another Alaska Range Panoramic…

Just a quick shot from Saturday evening. Again, taken just outside of Talkeetna from one of my favorite locations – the Talkeetna Alaska Lodge. Tens of thousands of people have seen this view from the lodge deck – during the summer anyway. In the winter, I’ve never seen anyone else out here. It is always magical to stand atop deep snow, and watch the alpenglow begin it’s display over the Alaska Range – pursuing my photography by myself. I really soak in the view and surroundings.

Anyway, this is a 5 image panoramic stitch, all images were shot vertically. Again, I used Live View to compose the image. Manual focus of course with I.S. turned off. Each exposure was 1/10″ at f/14. The lens was set at 100 mm and the ISO was 100. The image is about 96 inches long and about 1.5 gigs at full rez & unflattened. Once “shrunk” to “just” 65 inches long and about 24 inches tall, the file is more manageable at around 600 MB. Looking forward to printing this one… big.

I really like the mix of pastels and blues here, soft strung out clouds over the jagged peaks of the Alaska Range. I’d love to hear your comments. Take care everyone, and happy shooting.

Stay tuned!
